TL;DR Version, the #1 problem facing gamers is how difficult it is to find a game or for a GM to find players. DDB is "at the center of it all" and had the ability to provide a way for everyone to find everyone. Right now there are a ton of little sites with subsets of gamers that most folks don't even know exists. If DDB had a centralized site that everyone could put a profile in and search through, it would go a long way towards bringing together gamers, and more gamers finding games is more DnD books being sold, more merch, etc.
Disclaimer: I am not talking eHarmony's "matrix of matching" or any of that nonsense. This should not have ways to match players, that is nothing like what I want and would drastically complicate things, create liability issues, etc. What I'm asking for is super simple, a DB that I throw a profile into that players and GMs can then search regionally to find players, send them a PM, begin a conversation, move it to other formats (email, discord, etc) and create games. The reason it has to be DDB is because it's literally in the center of us all, everyone has to go there, our books are there, are campaigns are there, our characters are there, everything is there. I create a profile in the system with a link to one of my characters so a GM can look at it and see how I roll :)
