Hi, I am unsure of how other folks feel about this but I know that the main reason I haven't purchased any adventure books on Beyond is that there isn't a tactical or world map interface with PC and NPC tokens.
As of yet I have only been purchasing character option books in anticipation of your mobile character sheet.
If there were maps I would have incentive not only to buy adventures, but also to spend some bucks on a GM subscription and get all my players using Beyond as well. Right now the only online component I as a GM use at the table is roll20 battle maps, and so naturally all my players use roll20 for their sheets.
Since none of my players are really at an income level to be spending a lot of money on physical miniatures, and none of us have time to be drawing up maps before sessions, virtual battle maps are our best bet for tactical play. I would think a lot of millennials think about it similarly.
I think the most important/basic features of an online tactical map would simply be grid/hex-snapped tokens and a GM controlled show/hide map and fog of war system. Could sit nicely next to the encounter builder/viewer, having tactical maps linked to their respective encounters.
Amazing work so far to all the folks at D&D beyond! Really shaping up to be a one-stop-shop for all our D&D virtual tabletop needs. Thanks devs.
