Will I get additional digital game content if I subscribe?

So basically there is no benefit to subscribing, just a blatant trick into trying to steal our money?

    Hi there!

The Hero Tier subscription gives you an ad free experience on the website, gives you the ability to create an unlimited amount of characters and add publicly-shared homebrew content to your collection where you can use it in the character builder.

The Master Tier subscription gives you all of the features mentioned above from the Hero Tier subscription and the ability to share unlocked content with all players within 3 campaigns.

I completely agree with Rebecca. It's a total rip off. Why subscribe if I just have to re-buy digital materials I already own in hard copy? A monthly subscription should at least come with PHB access -- otherwise, forget it. No way in hell will I pay for a subscription to have to also pay for content.

So as I see it from posts above...if I already have the hard copy and digital versions of the books bought previously there isn't a way to use everything on the website? I cannot afford to buy everything all over again and how does this help having a better gaming experience?

The frustrations expressed in this thread are valid, of course -- heck, I felt the same way when I first learned about this -- but it stems from a fundamental misconception that D&D Beyond is a Wizards of the Coast Dungeons & Dragons product.

This website/application/service/whateveryawannacallit is developed by a wholly separate entity. When you pay a one-time fee to unlock, say, the Player's Handbook classes, spells, abilities, items, races, etc. in this toolset, what you're paying for is the integration of all that information into the toolset.

There's a decent amount of basic stuff available to use within the toolset without ever paying anything to the developers. This is thanks to Wizards of the Coast making available specific portions of the content through the open license.

The physical books that we've purchased, the digital versions of those books we've purchased entitles us to use those resources in our own games but certainly doesn't entitle us to the integration of that information into a third-party application.

I wish I had read this before throwing away $30.  I have already cancelled my subscription and would prefer to have it nullified completely and get a refund. Buyer beware let my wasted money be a warning to all of you. Enjoy my $30.

I would subscribe even if it was like £7.99/£9.99 pm to have access to the books digitally. With out that it seems like a waste of time, I got excited about this website but it’s not what I thought it would be.

IF — and it’s a really big if — you have a regular game going it MIGHT be worth everyone in the group chipping in for the subscription and a purchase of at least the PHB. IIRC the Master tier allows you to create campaigns and add players to them such that they all have access to the main account’s books. MIGHT be worth it.

This is a big disappointment after the excellent comprehensive subscription for the 4e tools. I would be happy to subscribe if I could get all content at one reasonable monthly rate. As is I will opt for less convenient 3rd party tools for now.

Adding another voice to the choir. I really wish there was a higher tier subscription that includes some or all of the books.
